Justified text and variables

I'm having problems with a block of aligned text ("text-align"=justify) that contains variables. The presence of the variables seems to throw out the alignment leaving gaps at the end of lines where normally the text would be stretched to the right margin. I've tried applying "text-align"=justify to all the elements involved but this doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm using Flare 7.2.1. Any ideas?

Is the alignment screwed up when you generate content? I noticed this previously myself, but when I created my PDFs and online help it was fine.
