Hi folks,
I'm fairly new to the print outputs and I'm having trouble trying to get rid of a dropdown for PDF output.
This is the situation:
I have a project that I publish to HTML Help. For that target I have a stylesheet (screen.css) with media default, screen and print: Default for the xml editor, screen for the HTML Help and print for users who print those HTML Help topics. This works just fine.
Now I'm trying to build produce another target: PDF output. For that target I have
- a page layout
- a separate TOC
- a separate stylesheet (print.css)
In this stylesheet I do not have any media apart from default, which is selected in the PDF target.
I set a certain class of dropdowns to display: none; because I need it for the HTML Help only (that dropdown contains links to bookmarks), but definitely not in the PDF.
I can kick out everything else: headings, pics, tables, other divs (none-dropdown ones), lists, ... just dropdowns are resistent ...
Is that a fact I cannot change? Or what am I doing wrong?
Do I really have to apply conditions for this?
Is it true: Dropdowns cannot be kicked out of PDF?
Is it true: Dropdowns cannot be kicked out of PDF?

Re: Is it true: Dropdowns cannot be kicked out of PDF?
Check out how we do our drop downs: http://documentation.ektron.com/cms400/ ... anager.htm
The drop down text that you see is conditionalized for online output only, so it doesn't show up in the PDF. (We use our drop downs in Mobile format, too.)
It is an added step to add the drop down text, but we like the effect.
Does this help?
Steps:
1. Using a regular <p> tag, type a drop down heading above the section header. Init. Cap. the drop down heading but lowercase all other words (except proper nouns) and no punctuation. For example: Editing a targeted content configuration (This is our convention; yours may vary.)
2. Highlight the drop-down heading and the entire section, and choose Insert > Drop-Down Text.
3. Immediately choose Format > Conditions and check Target_Conditions: All_Online (leave Print unchecked). (Of course, you have to define the conditions to use them.)
NOTE: Click Preview to check your work. It is all about the user experience.
