My company firewall prevents the Update feature from working within Flare. Is there a link we can use to download this patch?

There is a new Proxy setting in the Activation Wizard where you can enter your proxy information to avoid having to manually activate Flare.

Last night (6/12/2012) MadCap Release another update - Flare V8.1.1 -
Please be sure you update to the lastest version.
The relase notes topic have been updated.


Here is the email instructions for folks behind a firewall.


MadCap Flare V8 has been updated. If you have received the message in Flare that the update is available, please perfom the update within Flare, and disregard this email message.
If you are behind a Firewall or Proxy that prevents Flare from getting updates, please use the following to update your version.
1. Verify the version of Flare you are using (8.0, 8.01, 8.02, or 8.1 should be updated to the most current version 8.1.1).
2. Un-install Flare V8 from the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs or Uninstall a Program
3. Open Windows Explorer to where Flare V8 was installed:
-C:\Program Files (x86)\MadCap Software
-If there is a “MadCap FlareV8” folder, please delete it (this will remove any additional dlls that might have been installed previously via patches).
-All V8 patch files are rolled into this update.
4. Download Flare 8.1.1 from following link:

5. Run the installer.
6. If you are behind a Proxy, you can now enter your proxy information during the activation that will allow Flare to activate over the Internet.
7. The activation screens will appear when first launching Flare 8.1.1
8. If you require manual activation, please use the same code previously sent by Customer Service.
-If you no longer have this code and require a new one, please copy and paste the Machine ID, License Key, First Name, Last Name, and Email Address into an email and send it to customerservice@madcapsoftware.com, and an activation key will be provided.

Does this proxy information also work for:
1. Check for Updates within Flare?
2. News and Updates on the Start page?

At this time, it's only for the activation process.
