I'm sure this is really easy, it's just eluding me at the moment. I have a PDF document I would like readers to be able to access from within my Web Help app. How do I do this?
Thanks,
Nancy

Put the PDF in to a folder in Content Explorer in your project, drag & drop the file into your topic to get it linking, configure the link as you want.
Re: Include downloadable PDF link in WebHelp TOC or Topic
Sorry, I know this was a long time ago and I should start a new topic, but it's so similar to this one I thought I would just add it here...
So the thing is, I have added a PDF to my Content Explorer, and added it to my HTML5 help, but the problem is, as it's a downloadable PDF of the project itself, when I create the PDF and the Webhelp in a batch, I need the PDF to be updated and inserted into the right topic of the content explorer, then the webhelp to be made using this PDF for that download link!
This would be fine and dandy, except that when I try to set the output folder location for the PDF to the folder in the content, it gives an error saying that the output folder cannot be in the content folder.
So is there no way around this - will I always have to update the PDF and then click and drag it into the correct location in the content folder. This will actually take quite a bit of time as I update the help 10-15 time a day when testing...
Thanks for any help!

Not sure if it works, but rather than building the PDF into the content folder try building it to the default output folder and the publish it into the content folder of the HTML5 project before that gets built.

Use the Publish feature instead. Leave the output destination field to the default location (it'll build to the Output folder), but create a Publish destination that publishes back to a folder in Content Explorer. When you publish you'll get a warning asking for confirmation to publish back to the project, but just click ok.Harxy wrote:This would be fine and dandy, except that when I try to set the output folder location for the PDF to the folder in the content, it gives an error saying that the output folder cannot be in the content folder.
EDIT: Yeah, what RamonS wrote, although I can confirm that it works.
