Multiple versions of the same topic in CHM output

Hello,

I'm seeing strange behavior where, when you search via keyword in CHM output, multiple versions of the same topic appear in the search results. See the screen captures below. In this example, I've edited the content in this topic. However, when I search for a keyword that appears in that topic, both the old (previous) and new (revised) topics appear in the search results.

How do I stop the old versions of these topics from appearing in the search results?

I think this is a feature of the chm output format. In other help formats it is possible to exclude index entries not in the target.

I get around this by creating a child project that extracts the subset of topics that is required to create the .chm target and building the target from this child project.

Thanks for the reply. However, I'm not sure these issues are related. I'm seeing different versions of the same topic in the output - pre-revision and post-revision. The pre-revision topic versions should not be showing up.

My guess is that the old version is a separate htm file that is getting included in the chm output. Flare includes all topic files, unless they are specifically excluded with conditions or with the target setting "Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly". So even if a topic is not in the TOC, it can still get picked up by the search results. To troubleshoot, you could create a webhelp target and check the list of files in the output directory.

I enabled the setting "Exclude content not linked directly or indirectly" and I no longer see the different topic versions in the output. Problem solved. Thanks for your help!
