Repeated Chapter Number
If I have my chapter numbers set to "Increment Number" but they continue to appear all as Chapter One, what the heck could be the problem?

Re: Repeated Chapter Number
Are they in different topics? If so, you need to select "Start a new chapter document" in the Properties > Printed Output settings of each of your TOC items.
Re: Repeated Chapter Number
Is this in the output or the authoring environment? If it's in the authoring environment, then that's by design -- since you can have multiple TOCs for multiple outputs, it won't know the chapter number until the output is built.erinep23 wrote:If I have my chapter numbers set to "Increment Number" but they continue to appear all as Chapter One, what the heck could be the problem?
If this is happening in the output, then Jason is correct -- you need to tell the TOC where the chapter breaks are in your TOC. I tend to have my chapter breaks correspond to my top-level "books", but that's not an automatic action -- I specifically set each one to be the start of a new chapter.

I'm having this problem with my output too. I also want my chapter breaks correspond to my top-level books. However, when I go to (Topic) > Properties, there's no Printed Output option. (I'm using Flare 8.1.) Do I have to create conditional text?LTinker68 wrote:If this is happening in the output, then Jason is correct -- you need to tell the TOC where the chapter breaks are in your TOC. I'm a new user, so I'm unsure of the full process. Thanks!

It's not in the Topic Properties screen, it's in the TOC Properties screen. So in the TOC, right-click on the top-level book, select Properties, then go to Printed Output.platkat wrote:I also want my chapter breaks correspond to my top-level books.
