Re: Creating Columns
PageLayouts. Check the online help in Flare. You just set the 'body' block to be a specific number of columns.

Re: Creating Columns
Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply. Need your suggestions to move my documentation further.
Its a 40 page documentation. Now I have created the column sections as separate topics to manage the page layout properties in TOC.
Now the problem is, when I try to build the complete project, I have to select "Master PageLayout" for the target. Since only certain sections comes under 3 columns, I need the remaining pages to be left as single column. I have tapped my head to the core. please help. Is there any way to manage this part atleast in HTML coding.. ?
Kindly share your thoughts!

Re: Creating Columns
Go in to the TOC
Open the Properties dialog for the topic(s) that require the 3 column layout
Go to Printed Output section
Select the Break Type (either Page Break or Chapter Break based on what you need - but you must specify one as the alternative page layout must be starting on a new page)
In the Page Layout drop-down below select the 3 column layout you have made.
Build it and see what you get.
Nick.

Re: Creating Columns
Hi Nick,
I have followed this method for the setions which needs mutliple columns settings and it works pretty good when the single topic is previewed or built.
But when we have to build the entire project, which has different page layouts to be selected, for some single column and for some multiple columns), what should be selected for "Master PageLayouts" ?
Hope am not troubling you...

Suganthi M

Re: Creating Columns
No trouble at all,
Basically, Flare will use the default that you set in the target unless one is specified in the TOC entry. So when you select it in the target, I'd use whatever will be the most common in the pages, probably a single page layout. Then for each 3 column topic, set that in the TOC entry where it is needed.
