Image saved to Flare Project not available

Post by nardi point »

I've captured an image and saved it to my Flare project. From within my project, when I want to insert the image, the image is not listed in the image list box that displays. I've looked and relooked at every image on the list. I've re-captured the image and when I save it, I can see the image name. And if I choose to save it, the message, "this file already exists do you want to save it" displays. Furthermore, if I attempt to just copy the image and insert it directly into the topic, evidently the stylesheet won't allow it and I get dumped into the import process where... I can't find the file!

Have you closed Flare, and then re-launched?

I've found it to be stupid this way, on occasion.

I'm using Flare 8.1.1 on Windows 7 64-bit, but I recall the problem (occasionally) on earlier Flare and Windows XP.

Not long ago, I had the same problem with a Snippet that I'd just created from within Flare.

Once I closed and re-opened the program, the Snippet was findable via the Flare interface. If I wasn't already accustomed to the behavior from image files, I'd have gone nuts searching for it. It was visible in Windows Explorer, outside the Flare interface, but it would NOT appear in a selection dialog... and yes, I scrolled all the way to the bottom, in case it was placing new/recent files there in the list, instead of in the correct position relative to all other files.

Similarly, I created-and-linked a new Topic file via the Table of Contents, the other day, and it refused to appear in Flare's Content Explorer until I'd stopped and restarted Flare.

It's not consistent.

Before somebody asks, yes .NET is recently repaired. Not that I had a specific reason, I just do it "in case", every-so-often.

Thanks, Kevin. Ohhhh I was so hoping relaunching Flare would do it... but alas! I can't find the image. And now it seems new images are missing, too! :( I'm also using Flare 8.1.1 Windows 7 64bit.

My suggestion:
Create a sample project from Madcap and look if you can insert the image.
If that works then look at the source code what are the differences.

I wish they'd give us that power! Then I could done my Green Beanie and Power Ring and banish her in one fell stroke.

Unfortunately, I can only delete the posts one and a time.

Thanks for taking the time to report them all. Topics with reported posts turn pink for moderators.
