TFS changesets and checkin comments

Post by lauraj »

I've had my Flare source checked into TFS for years, but have just recently started using Flare's source control binding. (Before, I checked files in and out, moved or added them in TFS/Visual Studio, then worked on them with Flare.)

I'm noticing that when I check in a lot of files at once, Flare sometimes splits them into two changesets. And in that case, my checkin comment is only applied to one of the changesets - the other appears with no comment at all. That's obviously unacceptable! How can I fix it so that Flare either checks everything in together, or at least applies the comment to all changesets?

I have always had the same exact problem. The only thing I could do was to go into TFS and update the other checkin with a similar comment.

Because of this issue, I've stopped using Flare to check files in and out. That makes the source control binding well-nigh useless, so I haven't bound any of my projects except for the initial one where I found this issue.

I don't believe I ever submitted this to MadCap as a defect, so I'll go do that now.

I did submit it, and MadCap Tech Support has requested a remote session with me, which I haven't gotten around to scheduling.
