I cannot import any Framemaker documents into Flare because I need BOTH programs?
Why?
How do I get around that? Getting Framemaker installed is not an option.
(btw it would sure be nice to be able to search/filter the forums on words like "framemaker." search refused to look saying it was "too common.")
Framemaker required for import: really?

Sorry that I can't address your issue with FrameMaker, but I can make a suggestion regarding searching. Don't bother with the Search feature at the forums. Instead try a Google search, something like "MadCap forums FrameMaker import".

Re: Framemaker required for import: really?
Yes, FrameMaker is a requirement (when Importing from FrameMaker, Flare actually launches the files within FrameMaker while processing them).
Not sure if this helps, but you could possibly download a trial version of FrameMaker while doing the import? I'm assuming they offer a 30 day trial period.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, but when I imported, the FrameMaker console window threw a lot of .MIF errors. I just ignored these. Also, Adobe Distiller is automatically launched during the import as it processes the files. I just left Distiller open until it was finished.

I don't mean to quibble, Inge, but my method for using Google to search the forums works just fine. It's just another method... Nothing "unreal" about it as far as it goes for me.
