Where does Flare store local user settings?

Post by straygoat »

Hi all,

I've got a problem with Flare crashing when I launch it. I think it might be related to the topics that it tries to open (from my last session). Can anyone tell me where Flare stores the information relating to which topics were previously open? I'm hoping that if I can remove that info, Flare will launch okay and I'll be able to actually do some work today!

Found it and fixed the problem. In case anyone else ever needs to know, the registry settings are at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > MadCap Software > Flare > Projects > (a project number > OpenDocuments.

To prevent the crash problem, I just deleted the registry settings within OpenDocuments. When I relaunched Flare, it worked fine (fingers crossed).

Please report this as a bug here:

Flare should not crash when it cannot find the topics to open, but simply ignore the error or report it as a plain error message and then remove the registry entries.

I've already reported the issue and John and co are looking into it. So far, removing the Catapult MDI folder from Users>AppData>MadCap Software and turning off the Auto Reload documents feature (File>Options) seems to have helped a lot.
