Hello
I'm working for a client who has lots of gif images that need to be retaken (but still saved as gif). This isn't a problem, except that the gifs in Capture seem to be losing some of their colour and deteriorating in quality from the original. I can't see how to increase the number of colours for gifs, can anyone help?
I'm used to working with an old version of PaintShop Pro and in that it was just a case of choosing the amount of colours to be used before you saved.

A gif has a max of 256 colours - you won't get any more than that.
And if you're talking about screenshots: I don't recommend using gif for that because since Windows Vista the GUIs have colour gradients which make the screenshots look terrible if they're reduced to 256 colours. I would ALWAYS prefer png files that are about the same size and have far more colors than gif files.
But if you HAVE to use gif, I recommend using a REAL graphics software, like PaintShop Pro. The algorithms for reducing the colors to the necessary 256 are far better with good software. I think that might be the problem, although I don't know Capture.

Thanks. Yes, that sounds like it is the problem. I will see if we can force a change to png files.

Or you can turn off the gradient in the title bars of the form....or go straight to the classic theme, which will also remove the issue with the artifacts right outside of the round corners. Otherwise you'd need to fill those in with the background color of the topics or do nothing and accept that it looks ugly.

Or create a Windows theme with white background that you switch to every time you make screenshots.RamonS wrote:Or you can turn off the gradient in the title bars of the form....or go straight to the classic theme, which will also remove the issue with the artifacts right outside of the round corners. We have to use Classic mode as company policy for that very reason.
Thanks everyone.
