Font size in p style changes when adding a link (WebHelp)

Post by gfevrier »

The p style in our stylesheet is 8 pt font size. However, when he insert a hyperlink in a topic to another topic, the hyperlink changes to 10 pt, and we don't want the font size to change. In our stylesheet, every Link Style is font-size is 8 pt. Why is Flare changing the font size? Is there any way to prevent Flare from changing it?

Are you actually using a hyperlink or a xref? Xrefs are a different tag in the authoring environment, although they resolve to href tags in online output.

This is how the topic link looks in the text editor in Flare:

<li>Customize your <a href="../../Homepage_Preferences.htm">user preferences</a> to

I selected the text "user preferences" and linked to the topic "Homepage_preferences". The link text font size is larger than the rest of the text.

Attached is a screenshot of how it looks in the WebHelp.

Thanks!

Your first post said your <p> style is 8pt but you're using an <li> tag here, not a <p> tag. The <li> tag does not inherit from the <p> tag -- it inherits from the <ul> or <ol> tag, which in turn inherit from the <body> tag (generally). What font size are your ul/ol or li tags set to? Is your body tag set to 8pt or something else?

Have you tried styling the anchor (<a>) tag?

The ul and ol tags are set to 8 pt, and so is the body tag.

The a tags are all 8 pt already (see attached screenshot).
It looks like I'll have to manually set the font size in the topics.
Thanks.

Looking at the styles and naming convention I've got to ask if this is a word import.

It's not a Word import. I inherited this project so I don't know exactly why there are so many styles.

This is just a guess...

Your screenshot of the stylesheet editor shows that you're editing the non-print medium, rather than the default medium. Do you have your target set up to use the non-print medium? If it's set up to use the default medium, then it's not looking at the 8pt settings in the non-print medium. Might that be the root cause of your problem?
