Generating a Sub-TOC on a page?

Post by bwait »

Is it possible to use navigation or related topics to dynamically create sub-TOCs on a topic page? For example, assume the master TOC is this:

Parent Topic 1
  • Child Topic 1
    Child Topic 2
    Child Topic 3
Parent Topic 2
...

Can Flare generate the sub-TOC and insert it onto the Parent Topic 1 page like this? This is sometimes called "bubble-up", or bubbling up the TOC.

Welcome to Parent Topic 1,
Blah blah
blah blah blah
...
Subtopics:
  • <link to Child Topic 1>
< link to Child Topic 2>
< link to Child Topic 3>

If I understand you correctly, you need to use miniTOC proxies. They can be used in both print output and Help output. (You might also need to fiddle with the attributes of the p.miniTOC1, p.miniTOC2, etc., styles so that they render as you envision when you generate the output.)

MiniTOCs are documented fully in Flare's Help system.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

RETIRED, but still fond of all the Flare friends I've made. See you around now and then!

Thanks!

Yes I think this is what we need. In fact, I almost titled the post as Mini TOC instead of Sub TOC, but figured that might be confusing for some. Glad to see this is natively supported in Flare.
