Hello,
I'm finally convincing my bosses to drop RH and switch us to MadCap. We use RH for a Web-based app. Basically, the app calls the RH project as a .htm file. It's so effortless for the dev team that all they do when I update the project is drop the new file in the old location. We don't even have to go through a build.
What I need to know is, does MadCap offer the same option? Or is more development involved? If there's more development, what does it entail (in a nutshell)?
Thank you!

It is basically the same. As long as you keep the map IDs the same for the CSH calls you can replace the help without requiring a build to make it work. Same applies when packaging a new release, there is nothing that needs to be compiled into the web app. The only link between help and app is the URL of the help and the map IDs. The help file has an entire section about how to tie help to apps using CSH calls. From what I recall it is very similar to RH (which I used last almost ten years ago). That said, once you got your project compiled with Flare the developers might need to adjust the help routine and you do want to do some extensive testing to make sure things still line up as expected.

I think that Karen101 did not mention any CSH (context sensitive help), that Ramon is referring to.
Without CSH, it's even more straightforward, I'd think. No testing of those links needed.
Which output format are you using - Webhelp or else?

Using Flare 10.2 and Flare 11 on Win 7

One problem we encountered was the extra "Content" folder level in the output that caused us a few problems, mostly because of a few hard-coded links. However if you do find the Content folder is causing issues, there is a setting on the Advanced tab Do no use "content" folder in output.
