Is it just me, or is the Spell Check kind of busted?

Post by erinep23 »

I have been using Flare for three years, have bought all their versions, and it keeps improving except for one thing: I keep my Spell Checker on. But it doesn't always work. If I have just misspelled a word, Flare doesn't see to pick up on it under I have either a. scrolled to another page within the topic or b. saved my topic, closed it, and come back to it. Then, even suckier than that, is if I do open my topic, see multiple spelling errors, and I go to correct one of them, after I have corrected it, the other mistakes disappear! Does anyone else have this? Have you learned a solution? Am I just completely inapt at one of the most basic features?

No, this happens to me as well. I wish it worked better, but I'm not too worried about it because I end up exporting to Word and running spell check through there (I just find it easier to use).

Is this still true with Version 8? Are you still not feeling the love, as it were?

Previously I also put a post: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =4&t=15489

I did submit this as a bug and Technical Support could replicate it at the end and a report on my behalf is send development.
Maybe you should also submit it as a bug.

I'm using version 7, and I see this too. Sometimes mis-spellings aren't flagged and sometimes they are. It seems to depend on how Flare is feeling at the time.

I've not managed to find a sequence of events that causes spelling errors to be flagged or ignored consistently. Like DocuWil, I also keep spell-checking turned on all the time.

I have another related and equally frustrating issue. My code fonts have
mc-language: None;
which should turn off spell checking for the code fonts. As above, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't, again with no discernable pattern.

Unlike whunter, I perfer to correct my spellings as I go. I'm a terrible typist and it's really frustrating to have to go back through my content and correct all the problems later when Flare decides it is feeling up to showing my typos. :-(
