"Need FrameMaker" error when trying to import FM 11 book

Hello,
I am a new Flare user who is attempting to import a FrameMaker 11 book into Flare 8. The import wizard won't start. Flare just opens the "Adobe FrameMaker is required to import FrameMaker documents" error. Duh! My copy of FrameMaker 11 runs fine and I've tried re-installing Flare, but that doesn't fix it. Does Flare look for FrameMaker in a particular directory on my system? Maybe my Frame is installed in a different directory. That's all I can think of, but I haven't been able to find anything in the Flare docs that tell me what the "correct" directory would be.

Does anyone have a fix for me? I'm a freelancer without a Flare support contract, and the price per call is steep. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Would really surprise me, if Flare looks in a specific path. I think it looks the application up in the registry, where the path on your computer is given.

I reported this issue as a bug I was able to fix it by installing a FrameMaker11 patch that the Mad Cap tech support team sent. Thanks for your help and suggestions!

I, too, am experiencing the same error, and would like a link to the patch. I have FrameMaker 11.0.1.382...

It stinks, really, Flare seems like a good alternative to RoboHelp 10, but I'll be stuck buying RoboHelp if I can't get the evaluation version of Flare to play nice with .fm files as proof-of-concept for a webhelp update project.

I submitted a bug report as suggested and we'll see what happens.

Try the following patch:

Error - "Adobe FrameMaker is required to import FrameMaker documents" after installing FrameMaker 11.

Adobe FrameMaker 11 was release July 2012.

Download the following patch from the link below and follow the instructions in the ReadMe.txt file located within the zip archive.
