Frame Import Problems: Table Footnotes and TOCs

Post by servobot »

Hi all,

We are experiencing problems with table footnotes and TOC hierarchies during the FrameMaker import process.

Table footnotes are pulled into the table. Is this just a CSS fix after the import?

TOCs are not reflected accurately. I have adjusted the Frame TOC indentations for each level, so the parser can clearly see the differences in left to right alignment:

Title (First book level in Flare TOC): 0"
Heading1: .5"
Heading2: 1"
Heading3: 1.5"
Heading4: 2"

The first three items appear correctly, then everything remaining gets stuffed into the last book. Our books are giant, so we don't want to rebuild the TOCs by hand.

Any help with these problems would be appreciated.

Just in case any ever has a similar problem importing a Frame TOC, support solved our issue. Turns out one of our TOC tags was not set to 0.0 (first and left) even though it looked like it was.

We haven't conquered the Footnote issue yet, but we're working on it.

Five minutes after posting my last message, we discovered that table footnotes were making it through just fine.

The topic preview screen is a great source of anxiety in the topic validation process. If there were some way to simply list your topics in the order that they appear in your default TOC, I would rather validate my topics after accepting them. They're generally OK. The preview screen breaks everything.

We have reasonably clean, totally complete source text now. I'm just waiting on a fix from Madcap Support for a broken image import function. Soon, we will be ready to leave FrameMaker in the dust.
