Hi,
I'm a bit lost in Flair 8. I want to start with Mini-Tocs in topics. I insert the proxy in a topic, the topic is at level 2 in the TOC (no topic linked with the book). The heading is level 1 (h1) and there are several topics at the same level (but using heading 2 or 3) in the TOC.
I suppose there should be a Mini-TOC visible in the specific topic as I can see it in the 'Preview'. But in the HTML-output it isn't visible.
Even when I insert the Mini-TOC proxy in the master page (default level), the mini-TOCs won't appear in the html-output. I made no changes in the style.
I'm doing something wrong and overlook something. But what?
Please help,
gr.
Tom
Mini-toc doesn't show in the build (HTML)
Re: Mini-toc doesn't show in the build (HTML)
I think that the mini-TOC is a print-only feature. (I can't check right now as I'm not at work.)
A possible solution is:
http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 842#p63842
It gives you a menu similar to the blue one in the attachment. It's a bit of a faff to set up but you only need to do it once.

Re: Mini-toc doesn't show in the build (HTML)
I can't quite figure out exactly how you've got things set up, but you need to have the topic that you've put the miniTOC in be associated with a book on the TOC and there has to be some topics nested beneath that book. The styles you've used for the headings are irrelevant. Rather, when Flare encounters a miniTOC in a topic, it looks to see what topics are nested beneath that topic in the TOC. If nothing is nested beneath it, then there is nothing to process for the miniTOC.
I hope this helps...
(To Matt, no, miniTOCs are not just for print output. I use them in Help systems all the time. The topic you've pointed Tom to discusses how to achieve a "miniTOC-like" list of topics within a single topic that has subheadings in it. I don't think that's what Tom's trying to achieve, unless I've completed misunderstood his question. If that IS what he's trying to do, then your suggested approach is a fine one.)

Re: Mini-toc doesn't show in the build (HTML)
Hi Nita,
Thank you for your explanation. The link between the 'book' in the Toc and a topic was my missing link.
So now it works in my project as is has been designed in Flair
.
For me the Mini-TOC is a bit too restricted. I would have liked to show the mini-toc in all the relevant topics from that mini-topic (as a kind of 'Related topics'). Not only in the first one. There is not always a clear hierarchical order in the underlying topics. And I never link a topic to a book in the TOC for my (HTML)help. Because I think my readers are used to open a book first before starting reading 'chapter 1'. So I suppose them to click on the book in order to show the content instead of clicking in order to open the first topic
.
(sorry for the language, I am Dutch).

Hi Tom!
Your English is just fine.
Go read up on relationship tables in Flare's documentation. They are a bit more complicated to use than miniTOC proxies, but they could produce the kinds of generated links in all the topics within one "book" as you desire.
