Cannot View Styles to Apply in Dropdown or Style Window
Cannot View Styles to Apply in Dropdown or Style Window
A colleague of mine has created a new project using one of our previous stylesheets. Inexplicably, he is not able to view certain styles, either in the main Styles dropdown, nor in the Styles Window. Any idea what we are doing wrong here??

Re: Cannot View Styles to Apply in Dropdown or Style Window
Assuming the stylesheet is assigned to the project in the Primary Target Editor, I've had this issue because of the way I structure my content. For example, I like to follow a task step <li> with a separate line <div> to let the user know what results to expect. Only <div> is not available within a list and I have to switch to the Text Editor. This sometimes occurs in tables, too.
You may want to try coding it manually in the Text Editor and generating the output just to see if the style is applied. If not, there's another issue.
If you're generating HTML, you can check the source code of your output to see if the stylesheet is listed in the <head> section.

Could be any number of reasons:EmilyC15 wrote:A colleague of mine has created a new project using one of our previous stylesheets. Inexplicably, he is not able to view certain styles, either in the main Styles dropdown, nor in the Styles Window. Any idea what we are doing wrong here??
- The styles have "mc-disabled" set, which prevents them from being used in Flare.
- You're trying to use a style in the wrong context (kwag_meyers provided an example).
- The topic isn't using that stylesheet, because the stylesheet is not the project default, target default, or linked directly from the topic.
- The styles are in the wrong media (for example, the style is defined only in the "print" medium, but you're using the "default" medium.)
If you use a <p> element instead of a <div>, you can do this natively in lists. (Press Ctrl+; to convert a list item to a paragraph, press Enter for a new paragraph, and then set the paragraph style. To add an new list item, press Enter to create a new paragraph, and then press Shift-Tab.)kwag_meyers wrote:Only <div> is not available within a list and I have to switch to the Text Editor. Re: Cannot View Styles to Apply in Dropdown or Style Window
In your heading you refer to dropdowns. That's an issue as long as Flare exists. For some obscure reason MC "castrates" the class and tag list inside dropdown bodies. The same applies to text inside table cells. With each new version I post another bug report - NOT an enhancement request, because I don't consider it a nice-to-have to have the full list of classes and tags. There's absolutely no technical reason to shorten the list: If I edit the topic in the source code and e.g. insert a <h3> tag everything works and displays just fine ...EmilyC15 wrote:Inexplicably, he is not able to view certain styles, either in the main Styles dropdown, nor in the Styles Window.
