TOC issues in Word

Post by TeSol »

Hi,

This is the first time I am generating a Word target. I am facing the following problems -

1) In the TOC, I want only h1 to h4. But h5 and h6 are also being displayed.

2) All h1s show the number 1, h2s show 0.1 and h3s show 0.0.1. 'mc-heading-level' in the css is correctly set for these.

Please help in correctly displaying the TOC levels and heading numbers.

Thanks.

1. To eliminate a heading from the TOC, go to your .css stylesheet, open the PrintSupport property for the selected heading, and enter '0' for the mc-heading-level.

2. These are usually numbered as part of chapter numbering; if your topic is not set up by chapter, it's not likely your headings will be, either. Other users might be more helpful here; my Print experience is limited.

Good luck,
Leon

Thanks Leon.

I set the mc-heading-level property to 0 for the headings I did not want in the TOC but they still appear. So perhaps that is not the place to set it. Would be great if you have any more ideas on this.

My topics are all in chapters; no idea why the numbering is not happening.

Would be great if anyone can help. Thanks.

Hi all,

I was able to solve my problem. Given below is the solution -

Note: Please make sure you are in the Print medium of the stylesheet.

In the h1 style in your stylesheet, you will need to add "CH:" to the auto-number code. The code should look like this: " CH:{chapnum} "

In the h2 style in your stylesheet, you will need to change the auto-number format to the following as well: " CH: {chapnum}.{n+} "

For the h3, change it to " CH: {chapnum}.{n}.{n+} "

Once this is set up properly, TOC chapter numbering will work fine.

Thanks and regards,
TeSol.
