Variables don't inherit heading format in CHM files
Variables don't inherit heading format in CHM files
It is my understanding that variables placed in headings inherit the heading format. However, this isn't the case when I build a CHM file--formatting is not inherited. No problem with building a PDF file from the same source--formatting is correctly inherited. Has anyone else experienced this? I am using Flare v8.1.2.

Hi,
I suspect you've moved on, but just in case you're still stuck...
Simple answer: I'm using the same version, CHM, WebHelp and WORD outputs - but have never seen the problem you describe with variables in headings.
Intensely speculative suggestions: Given that it's target-specific I checked the HTML Help target properties first but found nothing promising. Ah... check the Madcap|Variable style in your stylesheet - if this has local attributes set they'd override the heading style (rather than inherit from it) - and they could be set just for online media (not printed media), which would explain the PDF working OK.
Or just maybe the CHM compiler doesn't like your heading font - try using something plain and ordinary as an experiment?
