We have external resources set up for four help projects. The projects get checked in to source control. I'm the one who initially set up the mappings for the projects, but there are two other writers who access these projects and they need to be able to get those mappings. What appears to happen is that when they open the project, the mappings I set up are not recognized on their machine. If they set up their own mappings, then the mappings I did on *my* machine are no longer recognized and I would have to set them up all over again (negating the other person's mappings in the process).
Am I missing something about how to set this up to be universal for all users who access the projects? Shouldn't the external resources be available to everyone automatically? It seems odd that someone would have to set those up all over again when the project file is modified by the mappings, and when the project file and the FileSynch directory are checked in to source control for all to get.
Thanks.

What source control system are you using?
Your issue is likely to be related to your source control system. Is it Subversion, by any chance? If so, take a look at this thread (on which source control system to use - they all have their quirks and some more than others - but further down the thread people start discussing the "features" of various systems) http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 68&t=16245

Otherwise, it may be worth searching some of the other posts in the source control forum, or reposting there with as many details as you can about what you use, and how you have configured it.
Good luck (from a frustrated Perforce user!)

Could that be your issue? The only hitch that might show up with SVN is in how you access the server. If you bind the project to a repository using "svn+ssh://releng@scm.yourdomain.com/" you'll have an issue with SVN within Flare because your SSH credentials somehow get tangled into the system and other writers won't be able to access the files. However, if you use a WAN/VPN/Intranet and can "see" the server without SSH, then you're golden. We just changed over to a full VPN network and we're pleased as punch with how it works now. We'd been managing SVN manually from Explorer.
Otherwise, it may be worth searching some of the other posts in the source control forum, or reposting there with as many details as you can about what you use, and how you have configured it.

Re: External resources - same project, multiple users
I don't think the issue is related to how the source control is set up, but where the external resource is stored.
As you're sharing the project, the external resource mapping needs to be to a location that is available (and the same) for everyone; it can't be in a different location for each individual. Therefore, you'd normally have the mapped file(s) on a network drive, e.g. you might set up a folder mapping to \\server\folder\ . If you use a mapping to a folder/file on your local drive, or a path that is only available on your PC, then it won't work for everyone else.
