Another WTF? moment courtesy of MadCap--
I am working with page layouts, hit F2 in a frame to edit text, when I get the attached error message. So what do I do? Create a new page layout. Go to hit F2. I get the same message. Heeeeeeeeeelp.

Re: Object Not Set to Instance Blah Blah Blah
That is more a WTF moment courtesy of .NET and inherited by Flare. I lamented often about using obviously flawed runtimes, but that doesn't help here now.
The standard advice for these uninformative errors is to try this
- restart Flare
- if that doesn't help, reboot the system
- if that doesn't help, use a recent backup and see if that also causes the problem
- if that doesn't help or would cause more problems try reinstalling (repairing) .NET
- if that doesn't help contact MadCap support
It really is a flaw in how error conditions are handled and reported. It would be nice to know what object is involved and what the most common causes are. Building such an error reporting engine is quite an effort and adding more features will always trump such efforts.
Sorry if my advice is not particularly helpful, but we all just shrug shoulders when we see such a message.
