Auto-suggestion files.

Post by Kat se gat »

When I was working through the use of auto-suggestion files I noticed that you can (seemingly) create as many as you want. There's a couple of questions that come out from that:

1. Why would you want to have more than one auto-suggestion file in a project? To my limited thinking and use of them, if a word is a useful candidate for a topic wouldn't you want them all to be one file and available to all topics?

2. If you've got a zillion Flare projects is there a universal auto-suggestion file you can add words to? Or must you add the same word to each project? I've tried searching for help but couldn't find it specifically.

Thanks.

I don't use this feature but I can hazard an answer to your first question. Being an independent Flare author, I work for many different clients. I can easily anticipate that an auto-suggestion file I use for one client's work would be wholly unsuitable for another client's work.

EDIT: Doh! I read the question too fast. I actually can't think of a use case for having two auto-suggestion files in the same project. I had posted my original response over breakfast, and obviously I hadn't had enough coffee yet!

I can certainly see your point where'd you'd have a file per client-cum-project. I thought also that two or more in the same project might be of use if you wanted to separate say, scientific-related words from those related to financial terms but then again, what does it save if you have to flip-flop from one to another? I'm assuming you'd need to select the file concerned or are their contents aggregated perhaps? I might try that later.

BTW: you can never have too much coffee. I am quite addicted to that most Noble Bean myself. I start the day like  and then move to :) then :D and perhaps later in the evening I'm like

I only use 2 Auto suggestion files for totally different type of projects.
I have saved these files to a central location and when I have a new project I import them using External Resources.
When new Auto suggestions arise I have to synchronize the External Resource.

The only thing I would like is that some kind of automation becomes available to do this synchronization when closing or opening a project
By the way I do the same with the dictionaries.
