I am wondering if there is a way to create a standard bookmark/link that can be added to multiple documents so that it would not have to be entered over and over again. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to create one or find out how to create one.
For example, I have multiple documents that include the phrase "Back to Top" with Top being a link to a bookmark at the top of the page. Is there a way to create a standard bookmark that can be inserted at the top of the page, as well as a standard phrase for the Top link so they can simply be added to the document instead of manually created each time?

Two options. In both cases you'd have to make sure your bookmark is the same in each topic (e.g., the bookmark is "top", so the hyperlink is #top).
Option one is to put the "Back to Top" phrase with hyperlink to the bookmark into a snippet (you'll have to manually add the hyperlink since there won't be a bookmark within that snippet).
Option two is to put the phrase and link in the masterpage so that it automatically appears in each topic (you'd put it after the bodyProxy placeholder and you'd also have to manually add the hyperlink).
The first option is more manual in that you have to insert the snippet in each topic, but it gives you flexibility to decide if you want it or not (i.e., you wouldn't want it for a real short topic).
The second option is more automatic, but you still have the flexibility to not have the link appear. For that flexibility, you'd need to create a second masterpage that didn't have the link text, then apply that masterpage to the topics where you don't want the link.
