repeating the index1 entry across column and page breaks

Is there any way to repeat the index1 entry automatically so when the column of entries wraps to the next column or page I get an entries like this at the top of the next column:

entry-text (continued)

If I could do that in my PDF target, that would be great.

If that's not possible maybe the indexproxy needs a new feature.
