I wasn't sure which thread this question should be posted in so I'm hoping someone here can help.
When I add a new topic from a template and change the file name, Flare is adding 2 topics from the same template. Is there a way to change this so only 1 copy is added?
For example, if I add a topic from a template titled "Executable Template", and then change the file name for the new topic to "Executable Test", Flare is added one topic titled "Executable Test" and then also adding another topic with the same title as the template.
I do not need a second copy with the template title to be added but cannot figure out why it is doing this or how to make it stop. A week ago, this was not happening but I don't believe I changed anything to make this happen.
Thanks.

Re: Templates Adding Double Topics?
It seems that if I name the new topic the same name as the template file, only one copy is created, but if the name varies from the template file, two copies are created; however, I still haven't come up with or seen a reason why this is happening.

Re: Templates Adding Double Topics?
Hello dcole,
I am assuming there is a Link in the topic that points to a bookmark in the topic.
When you rename the file, it imports the local "Resources" also. Because it doesn't patch the links during the import process, it will bring the file on disk with it.
A way to avoid this is to import it with the original template name first, then Rename it in Content Explorer.

Rob,
Thanks for your reply. I just came to this same conclusion myself and then saw your reply. If I had actually checked the forums in the past couple days, this would've saved me some headache. I was afraid this was the case and was hoping there was another way around it.
I guess that means I'd either have to take the approach you suggested, or just not add the links in the template, and have the writers add them themselves when they create a topic. Bummer.
