New Target to WORD: What am I missing here?

I want to build a new target for Output Type Word. In the Ribbon, I select New > Target. In the Add File window, it asks to select from a new or existing template. When I select New, there are no templates available. When I select Existing, there are no files to choose from in any of the folders, such as Content, Output, etc. I've consulted the Help content but all I get is Building Output or Building Targets. One would think this is helpful, but so far, I'm 0 for [insert ridiculous number of tries here].

I ended up saving a PDF output to Word just to get it to someone, but I would very much like to know how to export to Word from Flare. What am I missing? (Before I throw the laptop and make a phone call)

I hate days like that.

When you go to create the target, you can use the default template. In the Add File dialog, look for the "Output Type" drop down menu...that's where you select Word. But if you are saying that the New from Template window is blank, that's a whole nother problem, I'm afraid.

Not sure what version you are on but, try looking in C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V8\Flare.app\Resources\English\Templates\Targets. There should be one called MyTarget.fltar, which should appear as the default in Flare when adding a target.

Thank you! That did work...not perfect output, but it did produce something that works for us internally. I have some formatting to address and other minor things, but I at least got something.
