Thumbnails Freeze and Overlap

The following is true for our projects: Webhelp output, each topic has at least 10 images, all images are thumbnails. We are currently using MadCap Flare V7.

Our Issue: If a user clicks to enlarge an image, scrolls elsewhere on the page (while the image is still enlarged), and then clicks to enlarge another image, both images freeze on the screen until another topic is opened or the manual is refreshed. The example below is a screenshot of the MadCap Flare Webhelp V8 file.

Our Workaround: Direct user to copy down the topic breadcrumb trail and click the refresh button on their web browser. Then, navigate to the same topic by following the breadcrumb trail. And going forward, when they click to open an image—prior to scrolling up or down the page—click to close the image.

Does anyone have a better workaround? In other words, a fix?

Welcome to the MadCap forums. I haven't seen that behavior, and I'm a little confused because the screen shot you show is of HTML5 output, not WebHelp output, but it sounds like the issue is just in WebHelp output. Is the issue browser-specific? Can you reproduce the issue in Firefox or Chrome?

Correct, the example I showed may be from HTML5 since I used MadCap's manual. It's the same issue we're having in our manuals. The issue is not browser-specific--I have the same issue in Firefox.

My experience with the onClick Thumbnail control is that you have to click on the enalarged image again to shrink it before opening another. Perhaps this is just a limitation of the output...?

Okay. That's what I was wondering.

Well, whether it is a limitation of the MadCap software or the WebHelp output, does anyone have a fix I can implement? We've got a large amount of thumbnails in our projects.
