Flare working slow

Post by bne »

Hi,

after clicking on flare to open it, it takes so long (more than 10 minutes) to complete the starting process. And when i do something in flare it takes also much time. What can I do to get a normal-working flare? Any suggestions? By the way: It is flare version 9.
Thank you in advance,

bne

Do you have the project files on a network share? That would do it. If that is the case I suggest moving the project to local storage.

Also experiencing very poor Flare performance but moving all the projects locally is not an option because 1) other people need access to them and 2) local is not backed up daily like servers.

1) Then share a local folder that people can access. If access means others editing the project you should use a source control system. If they can deal with a copy that is a few hours behind in updating then see the next point.
2) Use robocopy and the Windows scheduler. I do that for all kinds of application and project data that I want to keep a backup of. For example, my Thunderbird profile folder with all emails and settings is backed up automatically every four hours to a network share. I notice once in a while the DOS box opening when the scheduler runs the batch file, but even that can be changed so that you see nothing popping up.
