As far as I understand, Mimic can create a mimov file, and it can open its own product, a mimov file.
As far as importing goes, Mimic doesn't import anything.
Am I correct?

According to the Mimic 7 Help system, one can import a few things:
--Mimic skins: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/mimic ... _Skins.htm
--Mimic movies: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/mimic ... Movies.htm
--PowerPoint slides: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/mimic ... ations.htm

Thanks, Nita. Mimic imports PowerPoint slide and, well, mimov movies. No WMV or AVI. That's disappointing.

Re: Mimic does not import?
I can see that this would be nice, but Mimic is not an NLE for video but more along the lines of slides with animations. It is still worthwhile to ask for it here

Re: Mimic does not import?
I have the latest version of Mimic and never use it. But today I have a project where it could be useful...the only problem being that I am documenting a firmware upgrade for a hardware product, so there is a mix of non-computer footage and then computer application footage. Judging by this thread, there's no way of adding the non-computer footage to Mimic. Is that right?

Not sure what you mean with "non-computer footage".

Re: Mimic does not import?
It's been a while, and I don't have the laptop here...
I am certain you can manually add background images to create a new scene. In effect, Mimic grabs a series of screenshots and animates objects over the static images.
I also find running something in a virtual machine, and Mimic on the host, allows you to capture some stuff that you couldn't otherwise. I made a movie at one stage of installing XP using this technique. 'Course, I had to obscure the unlock/ registration codes...
