how to print my ToC?

Post by kevinmcl »

I have a good-sized ToC (when expanded, it takes a bit more than a minute to scroll), that my co-tech-writer and I wish to update/rearrange.

So, we'd like to discuss it.

We'd like to print it out. Perhaps put it in chunks on a big white-board, and play around with different layout and placement and organizational options.

In the Flare 9 interface, I can expand all, but I don't immediately see where I can print the thing.

I suppose I could go to "Project Organizer", open the TOC folder, right-click the desired ToC and select the print option... oh, wait... there isn't one.

I suppose I could select it all in the editing window, "Export the data to a CSV file", and then print... oh, wait... that option remains grayed out.

OK, maybe I could view the published WebHelp, expand each item, place my cursor in the ToC frame and see if a capture program will capture the whole lengthy beast.

But that seems a bit round-about. Am I overlooking a way to do it inside Flare?

This is probably asked and answered in past Forum topics, but when I searched on "print a ToC", the ever-helpful forum search facility spat upon me, saying that my search terms were too common for it to be bothered assisting me, and I should go away until I could come up with better terms. So, here I is... askin'...

The best way to search the forums is to use Dave's FireFox plugin in or use Google, try <search terms> site:forums.madcapsoftware.com. Quick and accurate search guaranteed!

I found a couple of previous discussions on this:

Given this raises its head on a regular basis, it might be time for everyone who wants to print their TOCs to put in an enhancement request. https://www.madcapsoftware.com/feedback/bugs.aspx
