Hi
Having used MadCap for a couple of years, I have not come across this problem before.
My Stylesheet looks similar in all MC-footnote possibilities and the footnote looks just right in the text editor. But not so much in the generated PDF.
I've attached a screenshot that contains the information, I think you'll need to help me out.
PS In "Primary Target > Advanced > Stylesheet Medium = "print"
Regards Lars

Oh - my MadCap continues to do annoying stuff.
Now, it doesn't contain itself to messing up my footnotes, it also disregards my behind-the-back alterations.
Take a look, please. NOTE: I have been doing this in countless occasions!

You cannot manually change the link text in xrefs (cross-references).LarsLyhne wrote:Now, it doesn't contain itself to messing up my footnotes, it also disregards my behind-the-back alterations.

The link text displayed in the Flare editor is just a placeholder, and is replaced at build time according to the xref format (such as 'paratext').
(Ideally, the xref text shouldn't be editable, as it causes this sort of confusion.)
If you need to manually edit the text, use a standard hyperlink instead of a xref.
