PDFs won't go away

I am using an HTML 5 target. I have hyperlinks in my web help that link to pdfs that are contained within the project. Using IE, In the output, when I click on these links, the pdf opens in the same frame--which is what I want. But when I try to navigate to a link on the left pane, the pdf remains. I do not seem to have this issue on Google Chrome. Any suggestions?

Do you mean you click on a link in the help output (TOC) pane and the PDF stays loaded in the topic area? And does it happen with every topic you click on in the TOC pane, or perhaps only when you click on a "book"? And if it's the latter, is the book linked to a topic?
