I'm trying to create Chinese CHMs and PDFs in Flare 9.1.1 and am experiencing that the TOC appears fine (in Chinese characters) but each topic either is displayed with non-Chinese characters or appears completely blank. The opposite is true with the PDF: TOC contains non-Chinese characters but the body text is fine. (See attached) Lingo creates the Flare file without issue and compiles fines. But when sent to a colleague in China, she reports back the same issues that I am seeing here. I've scoured the forum to no avail. Before I open a $upport ticket, has one else experienced this issue?
I've set the language to Chinese (China) when defining the Targets. Shouldn't "Contents", "Index", "Search", and "Favorites" appear in Chinese?

Re: Unsuccessful compiling Chinese in Flare
Did you compile the help on a system that is set to Chinese / that is Chinese Windows? From what I recall these issues come up when the project language and the OS language don't match.

Changing the Locale to Chinese worked; however, I'm still seeing English in the tabs on the UI (Contents, Index, etc.). Any ideas?

Do you have access to a true Chinese Windows? That may be the trick here.

"You cannot actually control the skin text with Flare. Because it's a Microsoft creation, when a CHM file is opened on a computer with a different locale than English, then the skin will automatically update with text for that locale. So if someone in Argentina, with their computer set to Spanish (Argentina), opens up that CHM file, they'll see Spanish for Argentina for all of those buttons and tabs you mention. It's a bit nerve-wracking to not confirm that on our end, but that's they way they work!"

Re: Unsuccessful compiling Chinese in Flare
Hello,
I have the same pb than showed on the pictures at the top of this post.
My Flare version is 9.1.1 and my Windows is 7-64bits. The language of my project is set to Chinese.
I tryed on a Windows Entreprise station, installed with chinese language packs. I also put the locale to Chinese and it is always the same result.
However, with Flare 8 it works. Even on a "simply" european Windows sation.
Is there somewhere a new option to configure with Flare 9 ?
Regards,
Bea
