Track Changes in Topic Reveiws

Post by bmcclintock »

I'm using v9.1. I've read some of the other entries on this subject and especially with v7, many users were frustrated with changes only be visible when a topic was returned to the author. The Author could not send a topic back out to the reviewer when the topic had updates and edits were made so the reviewer could see what was changed.

I have enabled Track Changes and have the Changes column visible, but when I make an update/change, nothing is displaying in the Changes column. I have tried adding comments/annotations where the changes were, but my reviewer cannot see them when I send the topic.

Am I doing something wrong, or is Track Changes still working only in the Reviewer to Author direction, and not vice versa? Is this still an issue?

Thanks MadCappers. I'm grateful for any feedback you can offer.

Hi Barb,

I don't really know why that's happening but..
I made a change in Flare as author, sent it to reviewer and I could still see the changes.

So I would say that it does work and there's another issue causing your problem. Sorry I can't help more with what it is!

I did notice that in Review Options there is a place to say what shows in balloons. If you have 'display only format changes in balloons' or 'display changes inline' you won't see anything in the Changes column, only in the actual text. To check, in the Review Ribbon, go to Review Options and then to the Track Changes Display panel. Check that 'display all changes in balloons' is checked. I would make sure it's checked for both Contributor and for Flare, just incase!
If they're not being displayed in the changes column and the user has their font colouring set to something similar to your text colour you may not see the changes in the text.

Just a thought -- not sure if that'll solve it or not though sorry!

Thanks for the reply cateraf.

I'm wondering if the reason my reviewer can't see the changes is because we are still using XEdit and not Contributor?
