Expending Element wants me to suffer

Post by erinep23 »

Expending Element. I like it, I like it a lot. But I can't seem to change the format of it at all. Right now, it's the MadCap standard, but since I am using it for bulleted lists, I would prefer it to be in smaller font and less space between lines (I know there's a technical term for that, but it's 6 in the morning.) Am I not supposed to be able to change it?

If you look at the topic in Text Editor, you'll see <MadCap:expanding>, <MadCap:expandingHead>, and <MadCap:expandingBody>. If you look in your CSS in the Stylesheet Editor you'll see these listed in the Styles pane. It's just like setting headers or paragraph font, color, margins (the space between the lines), etc.

For bullet lists, I find using the Text Editor and coding manually saves me a whole lot of time and frustration. Especially with expanding text. My advice is to author the page as it will appear without expanding text. Then go into the Text Editor and add the tags manually:

Code: Select all

<MadCap:expanding>
  <MadCap:expandingHead>Bullet List</MadCap:expandingHead>
    <MadCap:expandingBody>
      <ul>
        <li>one</li>
        <li>two</li>
        <li>three</li>
      </ul>
    </MadCap:expandingBody>
</MadCap:expanding>
