Autonumbering MiniTOCs

Post by CATERAF »

Hi,

I have recently been trying to use Mini-TOCs to save me time typing out what appears in the TOC. Very cool feature..
However, I would like to autonumber some of my Mini-TOCs (the ones that are actually procedures but each step is a different page).

Essentially, I would like it to show the following:
1. TOC entry
2. TOC entry
3. TOC entry

I found this page on the forum for bullets, but unfortunately it didn't work when I used 'decimal' instead of circle (and it was for print anyway).

I would like this for print and online seeing as we're producing both manual types.

The other problem is that I would like some pages to have a Mini-TOC with autonumbering, and some that are plain (i.e., no bullets, autonumbers etc). How do I tell Flare which Mini-TOC to grab if I'm changing the p.MiniTOC1, p.MiniTOC2 etc.

Oh, I have also been playing with it and, with display set to 'list item' it suddenly bulleted the list (even though I have nothing defined in 'list'). I then thought 'brilliant, i can just change it to decimal in list and it would work'.. Well, it sortof worked. It made it look like this:

0. TOC entry
0. TOC entry
0. TOC entry..

It doesn't seem to have grasped the idea of increasing the number, or beginning at 1 for that matter.
I tried using 'autonumber' with display set to 'list-item' but that was just me poking around and hoping for the best.. to no avail.
So yes, still stuck...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Thanks,
Avril

The list-style-type property is for structured lists; i.e. ol/ul tags containing li tags.
However, the minitoc items aren't a regular list, they're just a group of p.MiniTOC paragraph tags, so the list style numbering won't work.

I don't know if Flare's autonumber format will work for p.MiniTOC styles, you'd have to test that out.

Thanks Dave.
Unfortunately Flare doesn't seem to see each item as consecutive but rather, just a bunch of items. I haven't yet been able to get it to autonumber.
Will keep trying though!
