Hi,
I have quite a big project that has been working fine, but suddenly I am getting an error when trying to build the CHM (HTML Help) output.
The error I am getting is:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday, September 11, 2013 10:38:46
HHA Version 4.74.8702
htmlproc.cpp(114) : Assertion failure: (pszTmp == m_pCompiler->m_pHtmlMem->psz)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is on Flare 8.1.1
The build runs through until this point:
Generating concept and keyword anchors in output files...
Generating Index...
Generating Concepts...
Resolving links in output files...
Generating Search Database...
Generating final output...
Running CHM compiler...
Generated ../../PeopleHelp/PeopleHelp.chm
Saving result set...
Output generated in 1 minute(s) and 49 second(s).
Then pop an error message referring to a c:\.err file
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Chris
If I build to any other output it completes successfully.

Re: Error when building CHM help file
Do you get the same error with a test project? That will narrow down if it's something in your environment or something specific to the project. Windows posted some patches recently, so it's always possible they broke something. If they did, you'd get the error with every project.

Re: Error when building CHM help file
Hi Lisa,
A test project compiles to CHM without any problems.
So then I assume something in my project, but where do I start?
Add one topic at a time to a test project?

Re: Error when building CHM help file
Looking at your error list again, it seems like it did generate the CHM file and errored after that point. Is that correct? Did it build a CHM file?
The only thing I can think of is to perhaps close the project and delete the Analyzer and Output folders using Windows Explorer, then re-open the project and rebuild. The Analyzer folder will be recreated when you open the project and the Output folder will be created when you build the output, so you don't really lose anything. I'm not sure that will resolve the issue, but give it a try.

Re: Error when building CHM help file
Googling 'HHA Version 4.74.8702' comes up with an interseting set of matches, just about every help authoring environment seems to run into it. Its related to Microsofts HTML help workshop...
One commentary suggests its related to the help workshop's undocumented filename length constraints.
If you copy your Flare project to another location, closer to the root of C:, doesit help?
