Failed to Run Command 'Record'

Post by ProjStream »

I am a new user to mimic and I am just creating a simple movie to record key strokes in an application and when press stop recording the following error occurs.

Failed to run command 'Record', Exception: conversion was not successful. This error occurred every time I tried to stop recording. Before I uninstall and reinstall Mimic I wanted to see if there is something else I can do.

You can try and reinstall / repair the .NET runtime. Which OS are you using Mimic on?

I am using Windows 7. I have used Mimic before but i am not sure it was on this same computer. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that fixes the issue. Thank you!!

On Win7 the repair option may then be the only option available as a .NET version came already with Win7....beats me which one that was. After reinstalling Mimic and repairing / reinstalling .NET you should have the problem solved. If not, get in touch with support.

I thought i had this issue resolved. However, it worked for awhile and now I am getting that same error "Failed to Run Command Record". I thought it was because I was running dual monitors, because once I removed the second monitor it appeared to work. However, now I have tried that as well as, uninstalling and reinstalling .NET, uninstalling and reinstalling Mimic, and clearing files if it was a memory issue. I am not sure what else to try. I will need to call support but I thought I would ask for help here first. Thank you.

May be completely irrelevant, but try turning off antivirus checking on the folder where Mimic is trying to create the output. I struggled for ages with intermittent build errors, which only finally went away when I stopped my AV software from checking those files. I think Flare was creating files then trying to open them up to modify them, by which time my AV software had detected a new file, and decided it needed checking, and was still at it when Flare needed the file again. Could that be your problem?

Did you ever get this worked out?
I am having similar issues with not being able to record. Similar error message.
Failed to run command 'Record' etc.

NOW, after re-installing, updating .NET, making sure all the proper codecs etc are installed AND adding extra RAM just to be sure.
I am getting a new error.
Failed to run command 'Record'.
exception: Conversion was not successful.

I should add, in my case, I have been able to record short movies, 2 minutes in length, but am wanting to record longer movies. These are movies of a workflow in an application, so recording my voice as I talk through a workflow as I move my cursor and click through fields and windows etc.
Any ideas or solutions?

Continued...

And the problem locks up Mimic. Can't save or do anything else. I have to exit using Task Manager.
