Link viewer - topics associated w/ targets

Hello,

I've just noticed that some of my topics have targets listed in the link viewer pane that shouldn't be associated. Not sure how it happened, so I don't know how to fix. I've looked through a bunch of help topics, but I have yet to find any that explain how items are listed in the Associated Targets section on the Link Viewer. Anyone know? Screen image attached in case I'm not being clear...

Targets get listed if the topic is in the TOC used by the target or if it is linked to by another topic in the TOC.

My first thought was that those targets were showing up because they're online targets and by default, all topics are included in online outputs unless you A) exclude the topic using conditions or B) enable the option to exclude content not directly or indirectly linked to from a target.

However, I just looked at a topic that I had set to be included only in print outputs, and the Link View still showed the HTML5 target associated with that topic. I thought at first it might be because the condition was applied against its parent folder, but I tested it on the topic itself and it still showed the HTML5 target associated with that topic. Unless that view doesn't update target associations until you build the target, but it's a fairly simple dynamic flag in the topic, so it shouldn't need to be built to rule out targets it's not supposed to be included in.

So to me it appears to be a bug.

The TOC suggestion doesn't track because the topic in question is not referenced directly or indirectly by the TOCs for the targets shown.

I think I follow LTinker's walk through, and I can say for sure that building does not affect the unrelated targets' display in the associated list. So I guess I'll figure out how to report this item to MadCap.
