Error when building pdf: "Object reference not set..."

Post by mafaulkner »

I'm trying to build a new pdf target and am getting the classic error message "Internal error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
It's a very simple target, with only one topic file.
To complicate matters, my co-worker has no trouble building the target. I don't have any idea what the difference is between her environment and mine.

Any suggestions out there?

Here are some general PDF build steps I usually take:

If these don't work, I would try opening the target file and the TOC file. In the past when I received the "Object" errors when attempting to build the PDF, the target or TOC file had become corrupted.

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I opened Flare this morning and said OK to getting the latest versions of the files, I received the error message again (not associated with a build attempt). I tried the "clean project" solution, which deleted many of the files but told me I didn't have access to our video files. I then closed and re-opened Flare, but still received the error message. This seems to be a general problem with Flare now, not specific to pdfs, and I can't build any of our targets.

Is your project stored on your computer or a network drive? If it's on a network drive, have you confirmed with IT that your permissions to that location haven't been modified?
