Hello,
I use Concepts to create See Also links in our Help topics. How do I hide the link to the current topic (topic being viewed) from the See Also list in the output?
Thanks.

Re: Question about Concept Links
OK, I've done this, and since no one else has answered, I'll post tomorrow how I did it. I'm not on my PC at present.
It's something to do with grouping the entries and/or setting the properties to appropriate values. Unfortunately, I can't remember without looking at it, but I do know it's quite simple when you know how, but also that it isn't obvious. It took me a bit of experimentation.

Lisa, I practically snorted my red wine out my nose!LTinker68 wrote:Msquared wrote:Watch this space.
Sorry, Todd, that we've run away with your post. I'm sure Marjorie's idea tomorrow will be well worth the wait.

Nita, you carry on snorting wine if it helps you.
I'm just about to pour myself a glass, while I try to work out how I set up my relationship tables a year ago. The copious notes I wrote a year ago aren't being much help yet.

Re: Question about Concept Links
I think the answer is that I don't use Flare Concepts for my "See Also". I use relationship tables. I got confused because "Concepts" is one of the default headings in a relationship table. When I first read your question, I assumed you were asking how to modify the way the Concept links in a relationship table were shown. Sorry to raise your hopes.
I've just looked at the Concept documentation, and it doesn't seem that you can remove the current topic from the "See Also" list. MadCap seem to use this in their own help for their "See Also" links, and do indeed include the current topic in the See Also list. They (sort of) get away with because it's included with a tick beside it, so not only does the list tell you what other topics are related, but it tells you what the current topic is. Sneaky!
As Nita says, you learn something new each day.
Relationship tables are more complicated, but also more flexible. Looking back at my notes, I initially rejected Concept links and also Keyword links because they weren't flexible enough. With relationship tables you have a lot more control over how you group and display the links. You can have more than one category of link on a page, and you can also control whether they work one way or both ways.
For example, on each page I have "Related Info", which contains closely related topics (Drawing Squares may link to Drawing Circles, Drawing Triangles etc) and "See also", which contains other useful things (perhaps, About the Drawing Tool, Saving Your Drawings, Colouring your Drawings). The first group is set up to link to each other, so Drawing Circles will have Drawing Squares and Drawing Triangles as "Related Info", whereas the second group is set up as target links only, so Drawing Squares, Drawing Circles and Drawing Triangles will all have links to About the Drawing Tool, Saving Your Drawings and Colouring your Drawings, but About the Drawing Tool, Saving Your Drawings, and Colouring your Drawings won't link back to Drawing Squares, Drawing Circles or Drawing Triangles, which are probably too specific for that type of topic.
Let me know if you want more information about Relationship Tables and the various settings, as I'm happy to try to provide it, at least to explain how I have set mine up. But I'm aware that may be an answer to a question that you didn't ask.
My aplogies again for misunderstanding.

Re: Question about Concept Links
Just FYI, I reported the See Also button showing the current topic as a bug a few months back.
Although, if I could figure out how they got the tick, maybe I wouldn't care so much.

Re: Question about Concept Links
Just found this thread after posting the same issue here: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... 635#p99635.
Marjorie, if you have a moment to explain these relationship tables you mentioned, I'd be interested to try it out myself. I see there is help on them, so I'll read up there, but if there was some special trick you used, feel free to share. : - )
Thanks,
Rona
