So in my Styles pane, available styles are listed with formatting applied.
Is there a way to list styles in the pane *without* formatting? I just want to see a list of style names.
Thanks!

Sort of, but not always the most practical for your workflow. The only way I know of to see the list of styles without formatting is to right-click on the tag block in the XML Editor and select Class or Style Class from the popup menu. It's been awhile since I've done that, and when I did it I was doing it in a page layout, so it might be different with topics, but give it a shot.
The tag blocks I'm referring to are the structure bars that appear along the left edge and/or top edge of the XML Editor. I think they, or at least the left ones, show up by default, but if you've turned them off, then you'll need to turn them back on so you can right-click on the appropriate tag.

Re: how do I view the list of styles without formatting?
Thanks Scott and Lisa, I have the same question. I created some styles for a dark UI that use white or grey text. They don't show up well (at all) in the Styles pane. Unfortunately, for topics, the other 2 ways I know of to select a style (right-click structure bar or in the ribbon) also show styles with formatting. Scott - we should submit a feature request if there is no way to do this now.

A possible work-around is to open your stylesheet in NotePad. You'll have to do some scrolling, but this gives you a black and white list of your styles.
In the Content Explorer, go to Content > Resources > Stylesheets and right-click your CSS. Select Open with > NOTEPAD.EXE.
