I am currently testing a trial version of the program together with my colleague. We imported our RoboHelp project and have experienced a few problems already.
- Imported text formatting, eg bold text, gets translated in Flare, but sometimes a space is missing in front of the bold phrase, and we don't know why. Anyone have an idea why this happened?
- When I click Show check-outs by other users in the Pending check-ins window, I can't see what my colleague has checked out, even though she has topics checked out. Anyone have an idea why?
(we're working with Flare V9, Windows 7 & 8 and Subversion 1.7)
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Is it possible the space is included inside the span markers for "On the "? (Don't understand why the plain text in that line has a span round it, though I've seen that on some legacy imported stuff I'm working on too.) It certainly looks like the space is not bold in point 3, "This is usually the ".
I suspect it's because of an inconsistency in how the bold is applied in the source Word doc.
Can't help with the Subversion question, though, others will have to come along and help with that.
In my experience, the formatting anomalies you're seeing post import from RoboHelp have more to do with the RoboHelp source than with Flare. Flare tries to do its best with the code that comes in. I typically have to do a fair bit of cleanup post import, using the Find-and-Replace feature, and searching within code. But before you do so, make a backup of your entire Flare project in case a global replace goes awry. In fact, I advise that you make frequent backups as you do the cleanup.
Re why you can't see what files your colleagues has checked out, I'm not sure, but here's a hunch. Do you each have Flare configured to lock files when checked out? From the File menu, choose Options (near the bottom right corner). On the Source Control, select the "Automatically check out file...", "Lock files when automatically checking out...", and "Enable background status checks..." check boxes. Once these are set, can you now each see when the other has something checked out?
Oh, and welcome to the forums, and to Flare!

RETIRED, but still fond of all the Flare friends I've made. See you around now and then!
