Build Progress Error

Post by jozefienMgX »

I am currently testing a trial version of the program together with my colleague.

Today, we tried to build the primary target of our project and we got the following error:
"The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name muse be less than 248 characters." (see attachment)

Is there anything we can do to prevent getting this error, besides shortening the path?

(we're working with Flare V9, Windows 7 & 8 and Subversion 1.7)

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

You've hit the (I believe Windows) limit for the length of a full path to a topic.

Move the project to a location on your computer that isn't so deeply nested. For example, put it in a folder directly on your Desktop or in a folder or two down from the Desktop. That should do it.

Yes, like Nita stated, you have surpassed the NTFS limit for path lengths.

If you can't do that, try mapping a new drive at the required level in the project. You'd have to change any paths to the files so they use the new drive mapping, but if the files are deeply nested it might work!

As a rule I try to avoid long file names, although I can see in this case the filename is very descriptive. Still, when I started using computers file names had to comply with the 8.3 rule, filename 8 characters (no spaces) and extension 3...

Aw... Steve, it wasn't that long ago so no worries! Still, that was at least 19 years ago or however long it took before you upgraded to Windows 95. How time flies.
