Flare 10: content unreadable due to variable overflow
In Flare 10, variables and cross-references (and probably other items as well) bleed over onto the text, making the text impossible to read. Is this a known issue, and will it be fixed soon?

Re: Flare 10: content unreadable due to variable overflow
I have some variables with rather long names and values, but I don't see this behavior on my system. How long is the variable/value in your example?

Here is the code:
Looks like the variable name is 46 characters long.
Code: Select all

Do you happen to have object positioning turned on? (It's on the "eyeball" drop-down list on the XML Editor's toolbar.) Just guessing that that might exhibit this behavior... I haven't tested this theory myself.

Following is a screenshot of the tags being shown. Do you mean "Enable Object Positioning" (highlighted in the image)?

Yep, that's the one I mean. I'm really just guessing whether turning that off makes any difference.
The only other thing I can think of is something in your stylesheet...

Shoot, that's not it. Thanks for the suggestion though.
What should I check for in my stylesheet?

Re: Flare 10: content unreadable due to variable overflow
If you've applied a span style to your variables, is there a no-wrap attribute coming into play? Really, I'm guessing.
But let me ask, do you want to see just the variable definition and not the name of the variable? In that same eyeball drop-down list, try turning off the option called something like "show variable names". (Obviously, I'm going on memory. I don't have access to Flare right now, Yes, that's it! It's right in your screenshot above.)

Re: Flare 10: content unreadable due to variable overflow
Hey that's great! I turned off "Show Variable Names" and now I'm not bothered by the variable overflow.
I can also turn of "Show Bookmark Names" to stop that text overflow as well.
(Though this is a different behavior than Flare 9 - I can open the same topic in Flare 9 and the variable or bookmark name is shown without obscuring the rest of the text.)
Thanks, Nita!

Re: Flare 10: content unreadable due to variable overflow
I'm glad I helped you figure it out. Honestly, if the "overflow" is happening in Flare 10 but not Flare 9 when the "Show xxx names" is turned on, then I'd say something's buggy with Flare 10. I'll try to remember to check it out tomorrow when I'm back in the office.
