I am hoping someone has a style suggestion for fixing the following alignment issue with Registered Trademarks:
We routinely use a "Note - " component, created using an autonumber. When a registered trademark symbol is inserted, the corresponding line of text is pushed down and out of alignment. I'm guessing this is caused due to the height of the trademark going above the allowable height for the line, but I am unsure how to correct this problem. Any help would be appreciated

Try setting the line-height attribute on the style that is causing the trouble. This may fix it. You can experiment until you find the smallest number that works.

This happens because the symbol is in superscript. If you notice the top of the symbol is inline with the tope of 'note'. By default vertical-align is set to 'super'. Provided your symbol is in a significantly smaller font size you might want to try setting it to text-top.
