Underlining superscripts

Post by mojebabicka »

Hello all I have found out that Flare underlines superscripts directly below the superscript. For example in Word the superscripts are underlined the same way as normal text (i.e. the underlining is one line under the whole underlined portion of the text). This different underlining in flare is mainly annoing when using hypelinks with superscript in them.

I was not able to adjust underlining to start at negative pixel height for . Therefore I have this result:

Does anyone know how to make Flare underline the superscript with the same line as normal letters?

I am sorry. I uploaded it to some server I will try another one. Please let me know if this one is shown. I can see both of them no problem.

No image shown. Probably access to the server is set to disallow anonymous or guest access.

I can see both, so it's probably your company firewall or something.

I am sorry about the images. I used publically available upload servers that do not require signing in at all. I can also try my Dropbox but unfortunatelly it allows only low data transfer and therefore it may not be functional once many people access this thread. But anyways, here it goes. If you can´t see it anyway, I suppose there is a problem on your end. Maybe madcap can provide a place where these images can stay (limited to some little space per user).

Hi mojebabicka

I can see all images.

Do you get this effect in the final output? When I use superscript and format it with underline or as a hyperlink, the view in the editor is as you indicate, but in the final output (and also in preview), the underline is correct - same level all along and does not jump up.

MadCap do provide this - use the Upload attachment tab, below the message area.

I can see the image (all three occurences).

If I preview as HTML5 - it's fine. The underline stays on the bottom level, also for the superscript part of the text.
If I preview as PDF - it's not ok, showing the effect as in your image where the underline is raised for the superscript part.

Hello all,

I must say that neither in PDF nor in HTML5 the underlining is fine. In both cases the underlining of superscript is just below the superscipt instead of on the baseline of normal letters.

Can anyone from MadCap clarify why I am getting different results from other users? It is a big issue for me since our company uses superscripts in names of products and therefore I need to hyperlink words containing superscripts frequently.

I hope someone can resolve this.

You might find you get more targeted assistance if you raise a call with MAdCap's Tech Support, as it seems that others on the forum don't have the same problem. It's possible there's something little that you can set in your stylesheet or somewhere that Tech Support will be able to point you to instantly.
